Why candidates choose FireStart
Built by people who know the process
Our team includes professional and volunteer firefighters, some directly involved in Canadian fire service recruitment. The strategies on FireStart are the ones we've seen actually work.
Canadian-specific content
Most firefighter prep material is American. FireStart's questions, scenarios, and study plans match what Canadian departments actually administer — FACT, CPS, NFST, OS, NTN.
All five exams in one subscription
Apply to multiple departments using different tests? One $67/year subscription covers every aptitude test used in Canadian firefighter recruitment, plus the lessons and jobs board.
Job board integrated with prep
See current recruitments alongside the exam each department uses. Target your study to the departments you're applying to instead of preparing in the dark.

How It Works
Pick Your Test
Tell us which exam you're preparing for — FACT, CPS, NFST, NTN, or OS — and we'll tailor your experience to match that test's format and content.
Learn, Then Practice
Work through guided lessons to build your skills, then drill with practice questions. Our Weak Spots mode automatically targets the areas where you need the most work.
Track Your Progress
Your dashboard shows exactly where you stand across every category. When your readiness score is high and your weak spots are gone, you're ready for test day.
